Parenting Tips – Motivating Your School Age Child

If a handover at an after-school-care program or similar is not available, you could try having it done at your place with the employment of a nanny, or similar. Stay away from family or friends. It needs to be a professional relationship that has the financial transaction involved to make sure it stays a non-emotional transaction.

Always carve some time out of your busy schedule for getting in a workout or some exercise. You may not make it to the gym every day, but shoot for at least a few days a week. Just be certain that you stay active for some time every day. It could be walking several flights of stairs, walking the dog a few times, or even playing basketball. Through this gym schedule, as well as staying active everyday, you are making a commitment to yourself to work your muscles everyday. Try to make time for working out no matter how cluttered your schedule may be. You don’t require intense daily exercise, however. It just means that you need to do something that gets you moving every day, even something as simple as walking or playing with your kids. Make sure that you get up and moving each and every day.

Infants and toddlers do not need to drink any kind of soda. You need to provide your child with drinks that are nutritionally sound and agreeable to their stomachs so things like milk, water and sugarless juice are more acceptable.

Even if you can’t forget what brought you to this new stage in life, find a way to forgive your spouse for whatever role they played in the divorce. And, never, ever bad-mouth your ex in front of the kids!

Try and stay away from insulting words whenever you are disciplining your child. If you put your child down, it might have a negative effect on his behavior. Use words that will direct him towards different, more adaptive behavior instead.

parenting advice that probably doesn’t need to be mentioned as much is to always be watching for signs. Drastic changes in your child(ren) in a short time that last more than a day or 2 should be a reason for serious alert. With all the threats that we are now aware of against our children with the above in mind add what peer pressure can bring them; you need to catch it if it happens or shortly after. Keep in mind that most of these threats are found more in everyday life than online, though the internet does offer potential problems as well.

Looking back I remember being absolutely worn out during the process. But I would do it all over again if I had to. The month or two of sleep deprivation was definitely worth the full night’s sleep I now enjoy with all three of my kids! And with them all being so close in age, had I not done this, I could have been getting up every night for years! So if you’re looking for a way to get your baby to sleep through the night, give this process a try! I would also love feedback on how this worked for you and I am available for any questions and can be contacted through my email below.

I know the thought of doing this night after night can be overwhelming, but i guarantee the long term benefits definitely outweigh the lack of sleep of sleep for a couple weeks. Just think, by a few months old your baby could be sleeping through the night and instead of getting up night after night for months and months, it could be only a few short weeks. At least this is the pep talk I used to give myself in the middle of the night when I was doing this! Make sure you have a cheering section from your hubby, family or friends. This is going to be an exhausting process and you need all the support you can get!
